Shooting 84

Photography practice on unsuspecting moto subjects
Published November 30, 2008

Having retrieved my camera from an extended loan, I wanted to make a moto ride with a purpose. I’m casually interested in photography but my skills are pretty unpracticed, so I took a diversion from The Loop, found a nice turn on Highway 84 and started shooting.

I did some playing with shutter speeds, aiming to give the photos a bit of background motion blur. Unfortunately, I ended up blurring pretty much everything until I switched to my fixed 50mm lens, but by then it was getting late and the subjects were fewer and far between.

I definitely learned a few things and hope to further develop my skills with more shooting excursions. Maybe next time I’ll put more effort into the post-processing–for this batch, I lazily applied some canned Lightroom adjustments.
